Phones from Russian users began to overheat more often against the background of the constant operation of VPN, and with overheating the number of calls to repair services has increased. This trend was told by employees of several workshops.

The iRepair explained that when using a VPN, the smartphone receives an additional load on the modem and the device itself, so it discharges faster and warms up more. Due to the constant charge consumption, owners have to put the device more often on charge, and the battery wears out faster against this background.

A similar assessment was given in Pedant. They noted that the VPN works in the background and therefore significantly consumes the battery. The service added that recently users have become more likely to complain about the overheating of smartphones and the deterioration of the battery.

In Isupport, the fast chargeout and heating of the device with the VPN called the usual situation. The support advised not to use a VPN to reduce overheating, if possible, but recognized that in the current conditions, for many users, this option is difficult to call real. At the same time, the service made a reservation that the deterioration of the battery is not always directly related to the operation of a VPN.
