In Russian schools began to talk with students about the dangers of VPN, and the conversation turned out to be unexpectedly tough. In a number of regions, children are directly advised to remove such services from phones and not use them at all.

Lessons took place in the Rostov region, Irkutsk, St. Petersburg and other cities. At the lectures, schoolchildren were explained why it is undesirable to bypass the block, and were persuaded to abandon the VPN. For classes, rather high-profile formulations were chosen. Among the topics are “VPN is outlawed. What can and what can not be done now on the Internet”, “Ban of using VPN services: what you need to know?” “Use of VPN is an aggravating circumstance in the commission of crimes.”

Interest in the topic did not arise from scratch. Earlier it became known that from April 15, Russian digital platforms can restrict access for users who come through programs that allow you to bypass the block. The relevant recommendations to telecom operators and Internet companies were sent by the Ministry of Digital Development. On computers, part of the services, including Yandex and VK, can stop opening, and on smartphones, when VPNs are possible failures in the operation of banking and medical applications.

In schools, it is emphasized that classes are held on their own initiative. Director of school No81 of the village of Yulovsk Salsky district Victoria Kharebina told the publication “Rise” that teachers regularly hold conversations about security on the Internet and the responsible behavior of users. According to her, schoolchildren already understand what a VPN is, and many people use it, especially when access to the network is limited.

In Irkutsk, such lessons included in the lecture hall about safe behavior in the network. The topics repeat the general line to clarify the legal risks and warn about the consequences if you use VPN services. In St. Petersburg, one of the schools proposed to pay attention to new words in the speech of teenagers, including “VPN”, in order to notice possible problems in time and, allegedly, protect the child from more serious threats.

In addition, employees of different departments were connected to the classes. As part of the thematic month, schoolchildren were told about the rights and duties of police inspectors for juvenile affairs, specialists of the Irkutsk Regional Psychoneurological Dispensary, representatives of the Anti-Drug Committee, the Federal Penitentiary Service and the State Traffic Inspectorate. Parents were separately explained the risks of using a VPN, and also warned about fraud and possible involvement in illegal activities.
