Anton Nesterov, a senior detective of the BSTM of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a unit that is supposed to combat cybercrime, has been taken into custody in Moscow. He is accused of receiving a bribe of almost 5 billion rubles and participating in hacker schemes.
According to investigators, he received the money from the administrator of a crypto exchange, and part of the funds were laundered through the purchase of apartments in the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
This is already the second high-profile case involving BSTM employees: Georgy Satyukov and Dmitry Sokolov, also accused of receiving a record bribe from WEX, were previously arrested in absentia. Both have fled abroad.
