Don't leave your computer alone with hackers and viruses — update your system.

Microsoft has reminded users that support for the Home and Pro editions of Windows 11, version 23H2, will end in just one month. This means that starting November 12, 2025, these builds will no longer receive monthly updates, including vulnerability patches and protection against current threats. The final update for them will be the October security release.

Version 23H2 for Home and Pro editions was released in October 2023 and will soon reach the end of its support period. Other editions—Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise—will remain in the main stage of their lifecycle for another year, until November 2026. Microsoft began warning users in advance—the first notice was issued in August, followed by a second in September. In October, the company again emphasized the need to transition to more current versions of the system.

The update to Windows 11 24H2—the next major version released in October 2024—will happen automatically on all devices with versions 22H2 and 23H2, provided they are not part of an IT-managed infrastructure. Users are given the option to choose a convenient time for the restart or to postpone the installation.

However, not all PCs will be able to update immediately: Microsoft has set a block for devices using drivers with SenseShield technology and methods of obfuscation. For such configurations, the installation of 24H2 is blocked until potential issues are resolved.

The company also reminded that support for the final builds of version 22H2 ended on October 14, 2025—a month before updates are cut off for the 23H2 editions. For those who want to maximize the support period and use the latest features, a transition to Windows 11 25H2 is available. This version was released on September 10, 2025, and is available for all devices with 24H2 installed, provided the "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available" feature is enabled.

You can check your current version of Windows 11 by pressing Win+R and entering the "winver" command. If the version is 23H2 or earlier, it is necessary to update to the current version as soon as possible.

Additional details about the support timelines for various Windows editions can be found in the official Microsoft Lifecycle Policy database. A list of solutions for which support ends this year is also published there.
