Microsoft to Shut Down Skype After More Than 20 Years

Microsoft has officially announced that it will discontinue support for Skype starting in May 2025. This information was discovered in a test version of the Windows app, where users are encouraged to switch to Microsoft Teams.
The fate of Skype was sealed back in 2017 with the launch of Teams, which became Microsoft's primary communication platform. In Windows 11, the company prioritized Teams integration over Skype, signaling the inevitable shift.
Many contacts have already transitioned to the free version of Teams, making the migration process smoother for the remaining users.

Beginning in May, Skype users will start receiving notifications stating:
"Skype will no longer be available. Continue your calls and chats in Teams."
