In Belarus, a cunning crypto entrepreneur was caught.

A resident of Svetlogorsk earned on other computers for several years: a man hid the virus-miner in free torrent distribution, and infected devices imperceptibly mined cryptocurrency and strongly inhibited. The scheme was opened by employees to counter cybercrime of the Grodno region together with investigators, BelTA learned from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus.
According to the agency, the man modified the cryptojacker, a malware for hidden mining, and built a special code into files that users downloaded through torrents. After launch, the infected program was fixed on the computer, used the central processing processor to mine cryptocurrency and continued to work even after the device was rebooted.
The monthly illegal income was about 1000 Belarusian rubles (approximately 26.5 thousand Russian rubles at the rate as of June 17). At the time of detention, the malware simultaneously used more than 500 foreign computers in Belarus and neighboring countries.
Law enforcement officers establish the victims for the entire period of operation of the scheme. A criminal case was opened against a resident of Svetlogorsk.
