Law enforcement in the Jewish Autonomous Region (JAR) has launched a criminal investigation against a man accused of hacking into another person’s private email account. The suspect allegedly gained unauthorized access to protected information, leading to data modification and blocking, according to the Investigative Committee of Russia for Khabarovsk Krai and JAR.
Investigators report that on August 20, 2024, the suspect—who possesses advanced computer skills—illegally accessed a stranger’s email account. As a result, key data was altered and access was restricted.
A case has been opened under Article 272, Part 1 of the Russian Criminal Code, which punishes unlawful access to protected computer data if it leads to modification or blocking of information.
With the active involvement of FSB officers, authorities are conducting investigative and procedural actions to gather evidence. The case remains under close scrutiny as officials work to establish the full extent of the ha
cker’s actions.
