Forget everything you knew about DDoS: a botnet with 4.6 million devices hit a Russian government resource.— Curator reported the detection and neutralization of the largest DDoS attack ever recorded: the attack was recorded on May 16 and targeted one of the "Government Resources" organizations.
According to Curator, 4.6 million unique IP addresses were blocked during the attack response. For comparison, the largest botnet in 2023 consisted of 136,000 devices, and in 2024, 227,000.The largest number of IP addresses involved were recorded in South and North America. In particular, 1.37 million IP addresses were in Brazil. The botnet also included addresses from the United States, Vietnam, India, and Argentina.
