What information may have fallen into criminal hands?

Swiss foundation Radix, known for its healthcare-related projects, has been hit by a ransomware attack. As a result, attackers stole and encrypted data, which later appeared on darknet forums. Among Radix’s clients are various branches of the Federal Administration, raising serious concerns within government circles.

The incident was promptly recorded, and after an initial internal assessment, Radix notified the National Cybersecurity Centre (NCSC). Experts from the NCSC have launched an investigation and are taking steps to clarify the situation.

Although Radix does not have direct access to the internal systems of the Federal Administration, attackers did not manage to penetrate those government systems. However, the ongoing investigation aims to determine which departments were affected and what kind of data was compromised. The NCSC is coordinating further actions, maintaining close contact with Radix management, law enforcement, and all potentially affected federal entities. As more details emerge, the public will be informed.

Ransomware remains one of the most widespread threats in cybersecurity. Criminals gain unauthorized access to an organization's systems, steal and encrypt the data, and then demand a ransom. If the demand goes unanswered, they threaten to publish sensitive data. If ignored further, they begin leaking the information in parts to increase pressure on the victim.

In Radix’s case, this pattern was followed to the letter: the stolen data has already surfaced on darknet platforms, and analysts are now reviewing the leaked materials to assess the extent of the damage and evaluate potential consequences for government agencies and citizens alike.
