Slovakia has begun receiving new CV9035 MkIV tracked infantry fighting vehicles, assembled by BAE Systems at the BAE Systems Hägglunds facility in Sweden. For Bratislava, the deliveries mark a significant milestone in the modernization of its ground forces, and for the manufacturer, this marks another export order for a platform already proven in European armies.

The Slovakian version received a 35mm Bushmaster III cannon, an updated fire control system, and a "digital architecture" designed for future upgrades. The manufacturer also claims to integrate an active protection system and anti-tank guided missiles, with the key promise being increased crew situational awareness and overall improved protection.

According to the company, the MkIV has significantly improved its ballistic and mine resistance, and its powerplant has been upgraded to "up to 1,000 horsepower." Particular emphasis was placed on modularity. The vehicle was designed to allow for the subsequent addition of new sensors and weapons to meet customer requirements without radical modifications.

BAE Systems reminds that the CV90 family is already in service with eight European countries, and vehicles are currently being assembled for two more NATO and European Union countries under ongoing programs. At the ceremony marking the start of deliveries, a BAE Systems representative

The Slovak contract relies on extensive domestic cooperation.
