Swedish authorities told about a cyber attack on one of the thermal power plants of the country, which has not been reported publicly before. The incident occurred in the spring of 2025, but the details appeared only now. The story attracted attention not only because of the chosen goal, but also because it was about an attempt to influence the object on which the stable operation of the energy depends.

According to the Minister of civil defense Karl-Oscar Bochlin, the attackers tried to disrupt the operation of the power plant in the west of Sweden. The name of the object was not disclosed. The attack did not achieve the goal, since the enterprise worked built-in protection mechanisms, and serious consequences were avoided.

The Swedish side claims that the case was carried out by the Security Service, which established those involved in the attempted intervention. According to the authorities, behind the attack was a group associated with foreign intelligence and law enforcement agencies. The investigation into the case has already been closed.

Karl-Oscar Bochlin linked the incident to a broader trend. According to the government, in recent years, hybrid attacks against European companies and infrastructure have become more dangerous and have become more dangerous. If earlier such groups were more often limited to DDoS attacks on sites and services, now, according to Stockholm, there are increasingly attempts to cause real damage to enterprises, including energy facilities.

The accusations against his foreign diplomatic mission in Stockholm refused to recognize the involvement and called the statements of the Swedish side unsubstantiated.
