A single mistake in Tor led investigators to the criminal.
A man suspected of inciting attacks on German politicians and civil servants has been arrested on charges of terrorism and financing physical violence. According to the German Federal Prosecutor's Office, the suspect is a citizen with dual German-Polish citizenship, who, in accordance with German data protection laws, is being referred to only as Martin S.
The investigation claims that since June, he had been anonymously running a site on the darknet where he published lists of politicians and officials, labeling them "targets," posted instructions for making explosives, and called on users to carry out attacks. The resource also allegedly contained the personal data of potential victims and texts inciting their "liquidation."
According to the prosecutor's office, Martin S. not only distributed such materials but also attempted to collect cryptocurrency donations to use as rewards for carrying out these "liquidation." It is believed that the funds raised were intended to finance attacks on government representatives and other public figures.
