The developers of “Max” confirmed the disappearance of the application from the official Apple store.
The Max messenger was removed from the App Store because of sanctions, told RBC with reference to Apple’s comment for the BBC. Apple said that the company complies with the laws of jurisdiction, where it works, but did not specify what kind of restrictions are in question.
The app disappeared from the App Store on June 3rd. On that day, the press service of “Maxa” told RBC about the inaccessibility of the messenger in the Apple store. The company noted that the application already installed on smartphones will continue to work in normal mode.
Later, representatives of “Max” reported that the owners of Apple smartphones after the removal of the application from the App Store will not be able to receive notifications about messages. At the same time, messages will continue to be delivered, and all the functions of the service will remain available.
The company recommended that users periodically open the application on their own, so as not to miss important messages.
In other applications stores, Max remains available for installation.
The head of the Ministry of Finance Maksut Shadayev said that the department will solve the issue of removing the messenger from the App Store. The minister also said that “he will be fine with him.”
The beta version of the Russian Max messenger from VK was released in March 2025. Registration on the platform is available to residents of 40 countries, including Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. Since the first of September 2025, the application was included in the list of mandatory pre-installation on new smartphones in Russia.
As of March 2026, 100 million users registered on the platform. In April, the messenger changed its name from Max to Max. In the same month, the service limited the work of users with the VPN on.
