Spanish police eliminated in the city of Alicante an underground workshop that produced fake European documents on an industrial scale. During the search, law enforcement officers seized about 800 fake IDs and detained the alleged organizer.
The operation was carried out on May 27 this year as part of an investigation led by the French National Police with the participation of the Spanish National Police and Europol. The workshop was in an apartment rented for a fictitious name. Inside, equipment for the manufacture of documents, digital devices, a car and 1580 euros in cash were found.
According to the investigation, the suspect ran the Internet site, which sold fake identity cards and administrative documents to customers throughout Europe. Customers received fakes both physically and digitally.
Forged documents helped criminal groups to transport migrants across borders, bypass inspections, illegally issue the right to live and move people between the EU countries. The production site provided criminal networks with ready-made sets of documents for such operations.
The investigation began after the discovery of a site with advertising of fake identity cards. French and Spanish law enforcement officers, with the support of Europol, have established the whereabouts of the proposed administrator of the site, who lived in Alicante since 2024.
As a result of the operation, the workshop was closed, the alleged organizer was detained, and the equipment and about 800 forged documents were seized.
